Downloading Files from Blackboard

Modified on Mon, 23 Mar at 4:12 PM

Instructors often require students to download files, such as syllabi, lesson material, and assignments. Downloadable files generally have these 3 dot icons found on the right-hand side of the file. This icon is called an ellipses.

After selecting the ellipses, two options may appear:

  1. Download original file
  2. Download alternative formats

Clicking the file name will download the file. The process of downloading a file depends on the browser and type of computer you are using. By default, Google Chrome (TCC’s recommended browser for Blackboard) will save a file directly to your Downloads folder. Depending on your settings, you may see a download window pop up that allows you to change the file’s name and download location.

Next to the file name is the Ally icon Ally icon. Clicking it will display a window that allows you to download attached files in an alternative format, such as PDF, ePub, electronic braille, MP3, and more. Select the desired file type in the window, and then click the Download button at the bottom right of the window.
