Inserting a Link in a Blackboard Discussion Board

You can add hyperlinks to external websites in the Message area of a discussion post.


Blackboard Original


Type the name of the website in the message area. Select it and click the Insert/Edit link icon:

Change the settings:

  1. In the URL field, type or paste the URL of the website. 
  2. The name of the website or should already be populated in the Text to display box. 
  3. Typing a title in the Title field is optional. 
  4. In the Open link in... field, set the link to open in a new window. 
  5. Click the Save button.

You can add additional text to your message as needed. 


When you submit your message, the link to the website will be active. 


Blackboard Ultra


First, click in the Type a response box to open the editor.

Click on the link icon in the editor.

Add the link's URL (1) and the text you'd like to display (2) in the boxes, then click the Insert button (3).
