Alternative formats

An A with an arrow pointing down

Materials in Blackboard often have alternative formats available. For example, your instructor might upload a Word document, but through the magic of technology, Blackboard makes it available for viewing (or even listening!) in other formats. At TCC, we use a tool called Ally that converts original documents to electronic braille, audio, PDF, HTML, ePub, and BeeLine Reader, and Immersive Reader

As you navigate through your Blackboard courss, be on the lookout for an icon featuring the letter "A" and a downward arrow. This symbol indicates that there are alternative formats available. Click on the icon to find out what formats are available for a particular document. The Immersive Reader and audio files are particularly helpful to students who don't like to read online. Additionally, the translated version is helpful for those whose first language is not English.
