Customize the Learning Module Image

Modified on Thu, 8 May at 3:16 PM

You can add or edit an image for a Learning Module (the image that shows on the left-hand side). Adding an image to your Learning Module provides a visual identity for your course and helps your students locate the Learning Module. Choose an appealing and meaningful image for your Learning Module.

Here's how:

  1. Select the three dots at the top right of the Learning Module on your Course Content page. Select Edit to bring up the Learning Module editing panel.
The Learning Module editing panel. On the left, it says "Learning Module without Image and indicates that it is Visible to students. On the right, the menu has four options: Edit; Student Progress; Change to Folder; and Delete. Right of that, there are three dots and a down-pointing chevron. The "Edit" option in the menu and the three dots are highlighted with a red outline.
  2. Click the Add Image link. You can upload an image from your device, add an image from a video repository, or generate an image using Blackboard's AI tools.
The Image Source menu, showing three options: Upload from Device, Stock images from Unsplash, and Generate images.
  3. Choose your image:
    • To upload an image, choose Upload from Device. You'll be prompted to browse your device for an image. Select the image and click Next.
    • To choose an image from Unsplash, choose Stock images from Unsplash. Search for an image that you like, select the image, and click Next.
    • To generate an image with Blackboard's AI tools, choose Generate images. The AI tool will try to generate an image that matches your Learning Module image; you can also enter a prompt and refine it to generate an image.
  4. A preview of the image appears. Select Next to continue. You can select the trash icon if you want to cancel.
  5. Position the image. You can adjust the zoom of the image using a slider, and select and drag what parts of the image become the Learning Module image. Select Save to continue.
  6. The image is uploaded to your Learning Module. The image might take a few seconds to load, depending on your internet connection.
  7.  Learning Module images are automatically marked as decorative, which hides the banner for students using assistive technologies. If you want all students to know the content of the image, uncheck Mark the image as decorative. Enter a description of the image in the Alternative text field.
  8. Select Save to turn on the image for your Learning Module.
