The LockDown Browser in Blackboard Ultra
In Blackboard Ultra, the LockDown Browser will launch directly from your exams. When you open an exam in Ultra, you'll see a pane on the right with a link to download the LockDown Browser (if you haven't already).
You'll be prompted to open the LockDown Browser. When you do, it will launch and you'll be able to take your exam. If you have any apps open that can take screenshots or communicate with other people (for example, Teams or Slack), you'll have to close them before you can proceed.
The LockDown Browser in Blackboard Original
If your course is in Blackboard Original, you will need to download the LockDown Browser and install it. Then you will launch the LockDown Browser instead of your regular browser, go to MyTCC and log in to Blackboard, and take your exam.
General Help
The Respondus LockDown Browser is its own browser, separate from Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
Be sure you are using the TCC edition of Respondus LockDown Browser. When you access the exam using this version, you will not be prompted to enter a password.
To install TCC's edition of Respondus, please follow this link:

There are also resources on how to use Respondus lockdown browser here: https://web.respondus.com/webinars/.
Once you have installed the Respondus browser, open it as you would any other browser (like Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and log into MyTCC, then go to Blackboard. From there you will be able to access your course site, and your exam.
What if the LockDown Browser doesn't work?
If you run into trouble with the LockDown Browser, here are some things to try:
- When you download the LockDown Browser, be sure to get the version that is specifically for TCC, here: Download LockDown Browser. If you download the generic version from Respondus, it will not work for TCC's tests.
- If you're using a Chromebook, you'll be using a Chrome extension, and you'll need to enable it. There are instructions for that here: Tulsa Community College - Student Resources - Respondus
- Be sure that you have closed all other browsers and Zoom before you launch the Respondus LockDown Browser. Sometimes anti-virus software can also interfere; turning it off (temporarily) might help.
- If you haven't, reboot your computer before logging in after you've reinstalled the software.
