Course site creation

Course sites are created in Blackboard automatically as courses are added to Banner, through a syncing process called "the snapshot." The snapshot runs approximately every four hours (more frequently in the week before a new semester). 

Course site deletion

Course sites are deleted one year and two weeks after the beginning of the semester. So for example, the Fall 2021 semester began on August 16, 2021. Therefore, Fall 2021 courses were deleted the week of August 30, 2022. 

Blackboard Support always posts a note on the faculty Institution Page before courses are deleted, to give you plenty of time to save the content from your courses. 

If you want to keep the content from your courses, you'll need to do the following things before the course is deleted: 

• Request a Master Site: Fill out this form to request a Master Site. 
• Copy the course to the Master Site.

Note: If the course is a merged site, you'll want to copy the parent course.

If you want to keep the user data from the course, you'll also need to download the Grade Center and the Grade Center History.
