So you've heard that the way to add video to your course is to use Panopto, and you want to try it out. Great! Here's what you need to know.
What is Panopto?
Panopto is a tool to record, edit, and store video. You can use it to record a video, edit it, and then add it to your Blackboard course. You can also add video that you create in other applications like Camtasia to a Blackboard course.
Why should I use it?
There is a limit (called a quota) to how much space a Blackboard course can take up. If you are adding individual videos to a course, your quota will fill up quickly, and you will run out of space. However, if you instead store your videos on Panopto, you can add them to your Blackboard courses without using any space at all in Blackboard! That means you'll have plenty of space for other kinds of content, and you will not exceed your quota.
Tip: If you have a lot of videos in your course and you suddenly find that Blackboard won't let you upload files, you might have exceeded your quota. If this happens, email bbsupport@tulsacc.edu and we will help you get your videos moved over to Panopto and free up your space.
How do I get started?

Recording a video in Panopto
Adding a pre-recorded video to Panopto
But what if you already have a video that you want to add to Panopto and use in your course?
There are two ways to do it.
Add a pre-recorded video directly to Panopto
When you log in to Panopto, you'll see a big blue button that says Create. Click on it to add a video.

Choose Upload Media to upload the video you've saved.

A window will open and prompt you to drag a file to it (or click to browse your files).

When you upload the file, it will process it, which could take a while if it's a long video.
Once it's processed, click on My Folder in Panopto to view:

Adding the video to your course - Ultra
This article will tell you how to add video to your course, as well as how to manage and reuse videos in Ultra.
Note: Captions in Panopto
Captions are automatically added when you record a video in Panopto. It can take a while for them to process, depending on the length of the video. Automatically generated captions are not 100% accurate; you might want to edit them, following the directions from Panopto.
That should get you started in Panopto. The resources on the Home page are terrific, but if you have any trouble, be sure to contact Blackboard Support (bbsupport@tulsacc.edu).
