Managing the Syllabi for Merged and Cross-Listed Sections
Every section on the college schedule must have a syllabus. If you are teaching sections that are merged in Blackboard or teaching a course that includes cross-listed sections, following the steps below will allow you to easily copy content.
Steps to Complete the Task:
- Log in to your Simple Syllabus Dashboard.
- Filter your To-do list so that it is just showing the current semester
- If there are syllabi that need content, click the "Edit" button
- Click the “Replace with a different syllabus " or the "Would you like to import a Syllabus?" link. Both links have the same function.
- Select the published syllabus that corresponds to the site on your To-list
- Follow the on-screen directions to complete the import.
- Click the Publish button at the bottom of the screen
FAQs About Merged and Clross-Listed Sections
When there are merged or cross-listed sections, do the students just see one simple syllabus link in Blackboard?
Yes, all students enrolled in the Blackboard site can view the syllabus, regardless of which section they are enrolled in.
In a merged or cross-listed section, why do I only see students from the parent site on my report?
The Simple Syllabus system pulls its roster from Blackboard, so only students in the parent course will appear on the report you access from Blackboard.
In my merged or cross-listed sections, I used the auto-sync calendar, but the child site doesn’t have a Blackboard section to sync with. How do I manage this?
You can add a file to the Blackboard site and direct students to it, or you can place a schedule in your OneDrive and link to it.
