What's the difference between "Original" and "Ultra"?

Modified on Thu, 21 Dec, 2023 at 11:17 AM

Many of the articles you'll find in the Knowledge Base specify either Blackboard Original or Blackboard Ultra. Original and Ultra are basically two different interfaces for Blackboard--they look different, and they're organized differently. Instructors may choose which one they want to use, so you might use Original in some courses and Ultra in others.

Here's how to tell which one you're using:

An Original course:

  • Has the main menu on the left side (the Course Menu)
  • Has smaller text, usually
  • Might have customizations from the instructor like different colors or icons

An Ultra course:

  • Has the main menu on the top, with a "Details and Actions" menu on the side
  • Has larger text and standard icons
  • Looks more modern
