Respondus Monitor - Demo Student

Why Use a Demo Student?

Instructors can use their Blackboard Preview student to experience their assessments the way students do without impacting the institution's license seat count.

Access the Instructor Dashboard

1. From the Course Content page of a Blackboard Site, Inside of the Details & Actions module click Books & Tools.
2. Scroll to "R" and click Respondus.

Access the Settings for an Exam

1. Click the down arrow to the left of the title of any exam that you plan to use Monitor.
2. Click Settings

Require Monitor (If your exam already requires Monitor, you can skip this step)

1. Select Require Lockdown Browser for this exam
2. Select Require Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam.

Add a Demo User

1. Expand Advanced Settings
2. Enter a demo student username for use by the instructor
   • Usernames are typically the CWID no T followed by _Previewuser

• You can check the username in your course roster.
• If you do not have a Preview Student on the roster,  Click Student Preview in the upper right corner of the Course Content Page.  Then Exit, clickingl the Save button.  The Preiview student will not be on your course roster.
